A 1:1 coaching strategy to get your sh*t in order
and find the real story beneath the story.
When everything's out on the floor at once —
the journals, the sticky notes, the half-finished scenes, the chapter you swear you'll fix later, the jumbled draft
— it's almost impossible to tell what to keep, what to toss, and how to know.
Am I even good enough to write this?
Who's going to want to read this anyway?
Why is this taking so damn long?
That's head trash.
Everyone doing this work has it. It's not a sign you're doing it wrong.
Underneath all of it, you know there's a story.
What's getting in the way is usually one (or all)
of these:
You can't find the story inside the notes, the drafts, or the scattered chapters
Conflicting feedback has you stuck about where to start or what to trust
You're avoiding the hardest parts, worried about being judged, or worse, silenced
You keep rewriting the same pages, unsure where to focus or what to do

Un-Mess Your Memoir isn't about someone else telling you what your story means. It's a supported process for clearing enough space — literally and mentally — that you can finally see what you're working with.
In this four-month program, you'll sort what to keep, what to cut, and why, instead of guessing.
You'll build enough trust in your own judgment to actually own the story, not just write what happened — you’ll understand the deeper themes in your story and how to share them.
And you'll come out the other side with a clear path to a beginning, middle, and end, plus a real plan for what comes next.
Your story's buried under journals, notes, half-written scenes, or a draft that's gone sideways
Conflicting feedback has you frozen, unsure what to trust
You're steering clear of the hard parts, worried about judgment
You've lost the plot on why you started this book in the first place
You know exactly what to keep, what to cut, and why
You've got a plan you actually trust, in your own voice
You're writing the hard stuff in a safe space built to hold it, not judge it
The passion's back — and so is your sense of direction
You're ready to write or revise

I'm Maurene Janiece — trash-talking hoarding survivor, book coach, and fellow writer knee-deep in my own memoir mess.
My job isn't to tell you what your story is about. It's to help you name what you already sense but haven't said out loud yet. I hold space for you and your story, so your story can eventually hold space for someone else's.
I bring an English Lit background, an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults, and certifications in book coaching and editing — plus an unreasonable love of analyzing what a story is trying to become. You bring the mess. We'll sort it together, with gentle honesty and support, not empty cheerleading.
Real life doesn't always cooperate with a calendar, so there's built-in flexibility to shift a deadline if something comes up, so the structure holds even when your week or month doesn't.
Each module has two deadlines, each followed by a 60-minute call to walk through feedback and next steps. The process combines Author Accelerator's Blueprint tools, personalized mindset coaching, and decades of professional experience.

Two submissions a month, each with detailed written feedback

Inline comments — what's working, what needs attention, and why

An editorial letter tracking bigger-picture patterns: themes, imagery, structure

Eight 1:1 fifty-minute calls to talk through the feedback and plan next steps

Deadlines, accountability, and email support so momentum doesn't quietly die

A space to write the hard stuff without managing someone else's reaction to it

Inline comments
Feedback directly in your submission — what's developing well, what needs attention, why, and questions worth sitting with.

Editorial Letter
The bigger picture: emerging themes, imagery, symbolism, and the reasoning behind what I'm noticing.

60-Minute Conversation
I walk through how I read the work and why, and you get to push back, ask questions, or just talk through the win you didn't expect.
Get clear on your story's main idea and how to say it out loud.
This decision anchors everything that follows, so you keep your agency over what you actually want to say — in a space where that's safe to figure out.
We'll also name the doubts and fears likely to show up as you dig deeper, and build a plan for when they do.
By the end of Module 1, you’ll have found your why and point so you can name and hold onto it. This will guide future decisions so you can own your story and retain agency over what you want to say in a safe space.
My job isn't to tell you what your story is about. It's to help you surface what you intuitively sense but haven't named.
Together, we will explore, shape, and start developing what you want to say and why, within a safe space to write the hard stuff without fear of judgment, so the story beneath the story can reach the page.
The exact phrasing may shift as your work develops, but the underlying point tends to revolve around similar themes.
Structure: Two deadlines, two 60-minute follow-up calls
Feedback following each deadline:
Inline comments: a mix of what's developing well, what needs attention, why, and questions to consider.
Editorial letter: bigger-picture observations (as well as imagery, metaphors, themes, symbolism that might be emerging), the reasoning behind the observations, and questions for you to consider.
50-minute call: further explanation of how I read the work, what stood out, and why, and your chance to ask questions, seek clarification, and share any concerns or ah-ha wins.
Revise and resubmit based on feedback; same feedback structure (inline comments, editorial letter, call), plus a brief summary of what's next.
Get into your story's vision, its recurring themes, and the symbolism that keeps resurfacing whether you meant it to or not.
You'll start shaping the structure, your story’s biggest turning points, and who this story is actually for.
We'll work through whatever comes up about your ability to write it and why it needs to be read.
By the end of Module 2, you’ll have a working container and early insights into the recurring themes and symbolism in your story so you can use those to write with intention, agency, and clarity. You’ll use your why and your point as your guide through the module.
Once your point has words, even loose ones, it guides every decision, creating both emotional and on-the-page space from which to work. In this module, I’ll help you see recurring themes, patterns, symbolism, and more to identify what is repeatedly showing up, which can offer clues into the underlying story.
Structure: Two deadlines, two 60-minute follow-up calls
Feedback following each deadline:
Inline comments: what’s working well, areas needing attention, why, and questions to consider.
Editorial letter: bigger-picture themes, images, or phrases repeating across sections you may not have noticed; I name what's recurring and reflect it back to see how it lands, so you can use it more intentionally if it resonates.
60-minute call: further explanation of the read and what stood out, as well as your opportunity to ask questions, seek clarification, and discuss any concerns and wins
Share any concerns or ah-ha wins.
Revise and resubmit based on feedback; same feedback structure (inline comments, editorial letter, call), plus a brief summary of what's next.
Build a working map of your story — the major scenes, how they all work together, and a clear read on what belongs and why.
This is where the shape of the whole thing starts to hold, with enough structure to keep the real story emerging and enough room left for the "oh, that's what this is about" moments.
This module tends to stir things up. We'll talk through how to keep writing through it without losing the ground you've built.
By the end of Module 3, you will have a working map of your story, the major scenes and turning points, and a clear understanding of what belongs and why.
When you feel overwhelmed, unsure, stuck, nervous about including the hard parts, concerned about what to include or leave out, and worried about losing sight of your original vision, it’s difficult to tune into the story beneath the story–the universal, human truths that show themselves in the recurring themes, imagery, metaphors, and patterns.
This is the stage where the map of your story, beginning to end, takes real shape with enough structure for the underlying story to keep emerging and enough room to intentionally apply the recurring themes, patterns, and imagery that surfaced in Module 2.
Feedback following each deadline:
Inline comments: strong points, areas needing attention, questions to consider.
Editorial letter: bigger-picture observations, continued tracking of recurring elements, pacing, and how the intentional choices from Module 2 are landing. For revision clients: your vision versus what's actually on the page, and how to close that gap.
60-minute call: any further explanation of my reading and comments as needed, plus space to talk through any emotional or mindset stuckness or concerns about including scenes that feel hard. I'll suggest options depending on what's coming up for you.
Revise and resubmit based on feedback; same feedback structure (inline comments, editorial letter, call), plus a brief summary of what's next.
Write or revise your opening and closing, with the container you've built now actually holding the book.
We'll keep surfacing what the story's trying to say — the throughline underneath the scenes — and look at how your chapters are talking to each other, including the parts you didn't plan. That's usually where the biggest "ah-ha!" moments live.
You’ll have a clear plan to continue writing or revising, with each step in place so you know exactly what to do next.
And we'll celebrate how far you've come!
By the end of Module 4, you’ll have both ends of your story's container in place and will be able to see your book taking real shape.
You may be writing about hard things and worried about being judged or silenced. This is where you can explore some of those issues on the page, in a safe space, without fear of saying too much or getting conflicting feedback within the coaching container.
I’ll continue providing analytical and intuitive feedback, reflecting what's actually in the work while giving the reasoning behind each observation, so you can decide for yourself whether it matches your vision and keep your agency over the story.
Together, we’ll continue bringing to the surface what your story is trying to say–the story beneath the story. I’ll help you see how the chapters are in conversation with each other and any additional aspects that may be emerging, even if you didn’t plan them–this insight can be one of the strongest “ah-ha” moments in the whole process.
Structure:
Write the first and last chapters to start seeing the book take shape or to see how the opening and closing now better support the revised structure.
Two deadlines, two 50-minute follow-up calls.
Feedback following each deadline:
Inline comments and editorial letter.
60-minute call to discuss feedback, plus any emotional/mindset/stuckness that's come up, with options to try depending on what's arising.
Revise and resubmit based on feedback; same feedback structure (inline comments, editorial letter, call).
We’ll close by discussing any concerns about maintaining momentum, including the option to move to monthly coaching.

“One of the most beautiful things about working with you on my memoir was feeling seen and heard. You gave me the gift of acceptance and validation. And the result of that creates a ripple effect for self-acceptance and confidence building.”
— Amy G.
Even if you can't quite find it yet in the notebooks, notes app, or stalled-out draft.
You've got the journals, notes, half-written scenes, or a full draft, and no idea how it all fits together.
You've collected conflicting opinions on your story and don't know whose advice to trust anymore, including your own.
You want to write the hard parts, but you're scared of being judged, or worse, silenced.
You've lost some steam for this story, but you're not ready to let it go, either.
Four months. Four modules. Two ways to pay.
Both get you the same mess-clearing process. Pick the one that keeps your brain the quietest.
Pay in Full: $3200
Prefer to pay as you go? No problem!
4 payments of $800/month. Same process, same support, spread across the four months as you go, timed with each new module.
Yes. Whether you're working from journals, scattered notes, or a completed manuscript, this process meets you where you are and helps you find the throughline from there.
That's exactly what this process is built for. Un-messing the mess is the whole point, and you don't have to have it figured out before we start.
Deliverables are "due" twice a month, with a call after each, and the page counts vary. The program is built for flexibility in case life issues arise, but plan to put in some solid effort for four months. It's deep, but fulfilling work.
AI has its place and can help summarize the information you give it. What it lacks is human insight, the ability to read body language and tone to ask additional questions or dig deeper, and it can't provide a real, working relationship to support you.
You'll gain clarity about your story, what you really want your story to say, and who you're writing for and why. I can't guarantee that you'll go on to write a bestseller or get an agent or publisher. There are too many market variables.
If you're still enthusiastic about your story, even a little, and you're tired of being stuck, you're ready. Book a discovery call and we'll figure out the rest together.
Book a free discovery call and let's talk about the story you're trying to share.
The one that scares you but you just can't toss.
