Vision to Revision

Bridge the gap between the book you have and the book you want it to be.

You have a draft...

or at least enough of one to know that something isn’t quite working.

Maybe the structure feels messy. Maybe the focus keeps shifting. Maybe the chapters don’t seem to build the way you hoped they would.

Maybe you can feel that the book on the page isn’t fully matching the book in your head.

That’s frustrating. It’s also incredibly common.

Vision to Revision is a strategic, big-picture review designed to help you step back, assess where your manuscript stands now, and get clearer on what it may need next.

Together, we’ll look at what’s currently in place, identify the patterns that may be helping—or getting in the way—and clarify the revision priorities that can help move the book closer to what you want it to be.

This isn’t a full developmental edit. It’s a focused strategic review for writers who need a clearer revision path before diving deeper.

This may be a good fit for you if…

  • you have a substantial draft, but revision feels messy or overwhelming.

  • you know something isn’t working, but you can’t quite tell what.

  • your book feels scattered, unfocused, or structurally uncertain.

  • you need help identifying what matters most before revising further.

  • you want strategy and direction, not just more feedback from all sides.

What’s included

  • A guided Vision Mapping Process to help uncover what’s already in place, clarify the larger vision for the book, and identify where it may need to go next.

  • A review of your manuscript in its current form.

  • A "Learn What’s Working, What’s Next" feedback summary outlining strengths, concerns, revision priorities, and next steps.

  • Two 50-minute coaching calls to talk through the feedback and support your revision process.

What this is not:

This is not a full developmental edit, line edit, or ongoing coaching package.

It is a focused, strategic review designed to help you understand the bigger revision issues in your manuscript and clarify the smartest path forward.

What People Are Saying

“During a recent call with Maurene, I found myself telling her about an experience that I did not think was part of my memoir. “Why am I telling her this?” I wondered. Well, it turns out it is the ending of my memoir, which had previously eluded me. No wonder it came up during that call: Maurene’s ability to listen whole-heartedly is like a magnet for story truth. Her motto “honor your story” and her laser listening skills are a winning combination for bringing the deeper story to light. If you’re looking for a memoir coach who has a heart with ears, an unwavering commitment to your story, and a knack for transformational results, you’re in luck. Maurene will help you step into your story and get its deeper truth onto the page.”

You’ll leave with…

  • a clearer sense of what may be helping—or weakening—the manuscript

  • insight into structural or developmental issues that may need attention

  • specific revision priorities

  • practical next steps for moving forward

In other words: less guessing, less second-guessing, and a smoother path between where the manuscript is now and where you want it to go.

You can revise… and I’m here to help.

As someone who’s been through the ups and downs of revising, I know what it’s like to start, stop, doubt yourself, and consider giving up.

Despite a solid outline, I’ve cranked out what I’d call an “extra-shitty” first draft, hoping for something better by the end.

But I learned that with focused feedback, I could have gone through fewer revisions, had a much stronger draft, and that it could have been a lot less stressful.

Whether you’ve been in the same situation or are new to writing, you might doubt your ability to revise a draft. Even with all the books and courses under your belt, each project brings its own set of challenges.

There’s nothing more deflating than being excited and ready to go only to lose focus, confidence, and progress, especially if you've gotten conflicting feedback.

With focused feedback and explanations, you can create a revision plan that will help you keep writing, not spinning your wheels.

If you need deeper support

Sometimes this level of feedback is enough to help you move forward on your own.

Sometimes it reveals bigger revision challenges that would benefit from ongoing support.

If that’s the case, I’ll help you understand your next best option, whether that’s Revision in Motion coaching or another next step that makes sense for you.
